Jeffrey R. Murrell

Jeffrey Murrell is a lifelong resident of Sevier County. He graduated from Sevier County High School in 1980 and then attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he obtained both his B.A. in Political Science (1984) and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (1988). Mr. Murrell was admitted to the practice of law in Tennessee in 1988 and went to work with a large law firm in Knoxville. During his time in Knoxville, Mr. Murrell engaged in primarily a defense practice representing insurers and employers in labor and employment matters. He was also a frequent lecturer and presenter at seminars for employers on employment practices and the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).

In 1993, Mr. Murrell joined Charlie Johnson in his law practice in Sevierville. It was at this time that he began representing plaintiffs in employment, workers’ compensation, and personal injury matters. Mr. Murrell today also has a business practice which includes representation of several prominent businesses in the area. His primary interest, though, is in representing individuals and families who have been injured by the negligence or recklessness of others.

Mr. Murrell is an active member of First Baptist Church Sevierville where he has served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Budget & Finance and Personnel Committees, as well as numerous other committees. Mr. Murrell has also served as Chairman of the Sevier County High School Foundation, and is also a former member of the Sevierville Rotary Club, and is a director of the United Way of Sevier County and the Sevier County Health Improvement Council.

Mr. Murrell has recently recovered over $2.3 million for a client in a wrongful death trucking case, $1.4 million in an out-of-state auto accident case, and over $900,000 in a medical malpractice case.
